Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated cybersecurity student for a part-time paid internship opportunity to join our growing cybersecurity team. This hybrid position offers hands-on experience in a real-world MSP environment, combining remote work flexibility with valuable in-office collaboration. The ideal candidate will gain practical experience across multiple cybersecurity domains while supporting our mission to protect client infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring & Analysis

  • Assist with 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring activities
  • Review and analyze security alerts from SIEM platforms and security tools
  • Perform initial triage of security incidents and escalate appropriately
  • Document findings and maintain accurate incident logs

Vulnerability Management

  • Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing initiatives
  • Assist in patch management processes across client environments
  • Help maintain vulnerability databases and tracking systems
  • Contribute to vulnerability reporting and remediation planning

Client Support & Documentation

  • Assist with cybersecurity awareness training development for clients
  • Help create and update security policies and procedures documentation
  • Support client onboarding security assessments
  • Participate in security compliance audits and assessments

Research & Development

  • Stay current with emerging cyber threats and attack vectors
  • Research new security tools and technologies
  • Contribute to threat intelligence gathering and analysis
  • Assist with security tool evaluation and implementation projects

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or related degree program
  • Minimum of sophomore standing (completed at least 2 semesters)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Previous internship or work experience in IT/cybersecurity (preferred but not required)

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, etc.)
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) preferred
  • Understanding of common security tools and concepts (firewalls, antivirus, SIEM, etc.)

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
  • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent
  • Working toward advanced certifications (CISSP, CEH, GCIH, etc.)

  • Knowledge of incident response methodologies

Position Details

Employment Type

  • Part-time paid internship (15–20 hours per week)
  • Flexible scheduling around academic commitments
  • Hybrid work arrangement (2–3 days in office, remainder remote)
  • Potential for extension or conversion to full-time upon graduation

Work Schedule
